Maintenance of an Electric Bike
Although an electric bike would not demand too much but it would be a good thing to keep it in topmost condition for ever. This will increase the life of your electric bike. Keep your bike clean and dust free. Check if any part is producing any unwanted distracting noise. Lubricate all parts with suitable oil to reduce friction. This should be done from time to time.
The actual bicycle part that needs precise care is the battery. You will have to take good care of the battery to enjoy an enduring experience. It is the battery only which accounts for the life of your electric bike. Your lead acid battery needs to be charged and discharged with utmost care. Make sure you put your lead acid battery on charging right after use. Try and keep your battery charged all the time. The batteries (that are used in other power tools like nickel cadmium batteries) should be discharged completely once in a month. Lead acid batteries work opposite to these. The lead acid battery will last longer only if you discharged it partially. Do not over cycle to discharge the battery completely. Put your battery on constant voltage only. Fluctuating voltage can be harmful for the battery. Fast charging is a bad approach. Always try to keep the battery cool. Your battery can be recycled. Never dispose it off. The battery comprises of toxic substances. This can be harmful for nature.
