Advantage Brushless!
Comparison has always been an essential part of the engineering world. It's the comparison which makes engineers work hard so as to make a difference. As a result of which they have made a difference! Nowadays, various electric bike kits, with numerous accessory options, are available. And thus we can compare them. Even motors are no exception. We can compare brushless motors with brushed ones.
Brushless motors have many advantages over the conventional brushed motors. Most prominent being, higher efficiency, reliability, reduced noise and longer life span. A brushed motor gives higher efficiency for the reason that there are no heat losses and no electrical loses. They are more reliable because, they have less moving parts as compared to brushed ones. They reduce noise because; there is no physical component like a brush and commutator, which produce noise. And they have longer life span because; they need not worry about brush erosion.
We even need not worry about commutator sparks, which are highly ionising. In here, the electromagnets can be cooled by conduction. Thus there is no requirement of airflow inside the motor. This in turn protects internal parts from dust, dirt and other foreign material. Also, the power that can be applied to these motors is quite high, limited only by heat which can damage the electromagnets. It is due to all these features that we proudly say;" Advantage: Brushless".
